Headlands Beach, located in the Northeastern part of Ohio, offers a beautiful view of Lake Erie. It was the first time I had been to a beach all summer. I wasn’t there to swim, but rather to enjoy the scenery and cool lake breeze. Good thing I wore boots to keep my feet from getting sandy.
The main attraction is the red and white square lighthouse at the far right end of the beach. Only those who are in proper attire to climb the wet rocks can have a closer look. My parents and I walked most of the length of the beach. We found out later on that Headlands is actually the longest natural beach in Ohio. No wonder we were so tired! The highlight of the day was when we saw a baby otter walking on the rocks to make its way back to its mom. Unfortunately, it happened so fast I couldn’t catch it on camera, but a lasting memory nonetheless.
Until next time,
